This is not about the kind of pants we wear. It's about a different kind of pants...I loved the passage from our Advanced Track reading this morning: "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?" (Psalm 42:1-2)
I thought about all the things we can pant for - money, people, toys, possesions, jobs, homes, furniture, success, fame, etc. All those things can let us down and do not really satisfy. The One our hearts are searching for, the One who can truly satisfy and give life, the One we should be panting for is God.
I want my heart's cry to be the same as the opening lines from Psalm 42. I want my greatest desire and passion to be for God and God alone. I want to always be thinking of where, when, and how I can meet with God. The possibilities are endless. We can meet with God in prayer. We can meet with God in worship. We can meet with God through time in His Word. We can meet with God by participating in ministry and mission (inside and/or outside a church building). We can meet with God any time we gather with others in the name of Christ.
Where, when, and how will you meet with God?
Advanced Track readings for weekend: 2 Sam 22‐23, Ps 57; Ps 95, Ps 97‐99; 2 Sam 24, 1 Chr 21‐22, Ps 30
Sometimes it's hard to 'walk all the way to meet with him'... We feel inadequate, tired and unworthy. The most important thing is taking that ONE step and HE will take the 99 and get to you.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Sujaya. Makes me think of James 4:8. "Come near to God and he will come near to you."
