PASSED AWAY: Goodbook 05-31-12

I read a very sad epitaph in our Advanced Reading:

"Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years.  He passed away to no one's regret, and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings," (2 Chronicles 21:20).

What a sad ending to a life.  This man passed away to no one's regret.  He had murdered and slaughtered his way to the top.  Even his own family was not off-limits to his violent ways.  He turned away from God and lived for himself.  In the end, he died alone and to no one's regret.

It made me wonder: Will anyone will be sad when I die?  Will my death even matter?  Will there be a void left because I am no longer here?

It also made me think of our churches.  If our church was suddenly gone, would it matter to anyone?  Would anyone be sad?  Would there be a void in our community or in our world?

Let's make a pact together: "I will live my life in such a way that people will miss me when I am gone.  I will help my church make an impact that would be missed if it were no longer in existence."
