BELIEVE: Goodbook 10-28-14

I read this quote back in September and have been thinking about it ever since. I wanted to hear what you all thought about the statement. So I'll share the quote and ask for your comments...

"God is not too hard to believe in. God is too good to believe in, we being such strangers to such goodness. The love of God is to me absolutely overwhelming," (Rev. William Sloane Coffin).

When I think about the radical love and goodness of God, it is hard to wrap my brain around it.  A God who gives us so many good gifts.  A God who is so patient.  A God who pursues us.  A God who would give his life to save the creation that turned away from him and messed everything up.  A God who offers so many more blessings than we give Him the opportunity to share.

We do not see that kind of love and goodness very often in our world.  I think we are taught from a very young age: "If it sounds too good to be true, it is probably too good to be true."  I wonder if that sets us up for a faith struggle where we think God is too good to believe in.  I had a hard time believing in God's love and goodness until I experienced it through God's people.

What do you think...
1) Has God ever seemed too good to be true?
2) Which do you think more people would say - too hard to believe in or too good to believe in?
3) How can we help others experience the reality of God's love and goodness?
