Veggie Tales has a great song called "God Is Bigger." The chorus goes: "God is bigger, bigger than the boogie man. He's bigger than Godzilla or the monsters on TV. Oh God is bigger, bigger than the boogie man. And He's watching over you and me."
Our son likes this song a lot. It's fun to sing and has a great message. We took a road trip recently and listened to it several times. And I mean SEVERAL times. :)
I just so happened to be reading our Advanced Track scriptures and came across some Psalms that share the same Good News as the Veggie Tale song. Psalm 27:1: "The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid." Psalm 34:4: "I sought the Lord and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears."
One night, while tucking my son into bed, I pulled out my Bible and read these verses to him. He smiled and asked me to read them again. It was cool to see that my son wanted to put God's Word on repeat just as much as a Veggie Tale tune. I think he heard the Good News and it comforted his spirit. He slept soundly knowing that God is bigger than anything we might face and we can trust in God.
Little kids aren't the only ones who deal with fear or anxiety. Big people do as well. We have different fears, but they still consume our thoughts and drain our energy. Nevertheless, we can rest in the same Good News that brought comfort to my son. God is bigger and stronger than anything we might face in this world. When we seek God and place our lives in God's hands, we can take comfort knowing God is able to save us, deliver us, strengthen us, and guide us.
Are you or someone you know dealing with fear? God is bigger!
1) Seek God and place your life in God's big, strong hands.
