TODAY'S VERSE:
"People do not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God," (Deuteronomy 8:3).
SUGGESTIONS:
1) Pray and ask God to open your ears, your mind, and your heart to hear what God is saying to you through this verse.
2) Read the verse a few times.
3) Be still for a moment.
4) Focus on a phrase or a word that captures your attention.
5) Spend the rest of the day reflecting on what God might be saying to you personally through this verse. What's the Good News? What's the challenge? How can you respond to the message?
6) Pray a prayer based on that passage of Scripture.
7) Respond in faithful obedience.
This is a good one for me as I am starting up my diet again. Each time I get hungry I can remember how important God's word is to me. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI feel as though this passage is saying that we should not live on God's love and existence alone, but also on his Word and direction for us. That we should follow the example of Jesus in our daily life. Obey God's commands and be His instrument, while accepting His love. Patricia
ReplyDeleteWow, it was really neat for me to meditate on one phrase all day long. My biggest discovery was that I hear more the longer I listen. When I read a passage, usually I have an idea that pops into my head of what I think it means. Often, I settle for that answer. But the longer I reflected on this passage, the more I got out of it. By meditating all day long, I was actually living on God's Word. :)
ReplyDeleteWe're not living - if it's just by bread. We need God's word to live life... and to life it fully.
