UNITY IN CHRIST: Goodbook 11-05-12

November 6th is Election Day.  Many of us think differently and will vote differently.  Despite our differences, those of us who follow Christ have a common bond and are held to a higher standard of relationship.  This verse from Colossians 3:12-27 is a great reminder of who we are and how we are to treat one another.

"You are God's chosen people, dedicated and dear to Him. You must therefore clothe yourselves in compassion, in kindness, in humility, in gentleness, in patience. You must bear with each other, and, if anyone has something to complain about in someone else, you must forgive each other. You must forgive each other as the Lord forgave you. And, to crown all, you must clothe yourselves in love, which holds all the other qualities together and completes them. Only Christ can enable men to live in a right relationship with each other. It is this unifying power of His which must dictate your every decision, for you were meant to be one united body. You must be thankful. You must open your hearts to the message of Christ so that in all its riches it may find its home there. You must with all wisdom continually teach and advise each other. With heartfelt gratitude to Him you must sing to God in psalms and hymns and songs inspired by the Spirit. Whatever you do and whatever you say, you must do and say it all as the representatives of the Lord Jesus, and all the time you must be giving thanks to God the Father through Him."

May the world look at how we treat one another and see Jesus!

You are invited to share in an Election Day Communion with us Tuesday afternoon at 6:30pm.  There will be 30 minutes of prayer and music, celebrating our common foundation in Christ.  The service will be held in the Sanctuary at 1310 Shepherd Drive, Naperville 60565.

  1. Thank you Pastor PJ. We, as Americans, need to hear this message right now.
