Words of affirmation are so powerful.
A while ago, I started saying this same phrase to my son every morning. It reminds him that he has a heavenly Father and an earthly father who loves him and values him. His identity, his acceptance, his security, and his purpose are grounded in this statement of love and affirmation.
Another way I am trying to apply this is by affirming others. The other night I was visiting one of the small groups I helped to start a while back. One of the participants led the prayer time. She did such an amazing job. You could tell she listened well to people throughout the night. She lifted everyone up in prayer, included themes from the study, and called us to faithful action. Normally I might think, "Wow, that was a very powerful prayer." But I had just read this verse and so I spoke words of affirmation to her. I could see her light up.
Words of affirmation are so powerful. Words can build you. Words can set a fire in your heart. Words can bring life!
Make an effort to speak words of affirmation to someone today. Tell someone how much you love them. Tell them what they mean to you. Call out their gifts and their good qualities. Let your words bring life.
Here is a song to inspire us to let our words bring life! Share your comments and application ideas...
