RESOLUTIONS: Goodbook 12-31-31

It's that time of year when we reflect on the past year and make resolutions about what we would like to do in the New Year.  I always like to have two resolutions: one that helps me grow physically and another that helps me grow spiritually.  I have decided on my resolutions for this year and I would love to share the journey with you!  Here they are...

Resolution #1: Become Healthier in 40 Days

I know, I know.  Lots of people WANT to get healthier in the New Year.  But how many have a plan?  How many have others who can encourage, support, and walk with them on that journey?  Well, we can!  We are hosting a Big Group / Small Group event at our church called "40 Days to a Healthier Life."  Based on the New York Times #1 Best-seller "The Daniel Plan," our study will explore how to become healthier in 5 key areas: Faith, Fitness, Food, Focus, Friends.  We will meet 7:00-8:30pm Thursday nights from January 23 - February 27.  Childcare is available based on need.  The night will include music, video, small group discussion, and prayer.  Please feel free to invite neighbors, family, co-workers, etc.  You can register online by clicking this link: 40 DAYS.

Resolution #2: Intentionally live out all 50 commands of Jesus.

In his Great Commission, Jesus says, "teach them to obey everything I have commanded."  I was preaching on this verse a few weeks ago and had to wonder if I even knew everything Jesus commanded, let alone obeyed every command.  I did a little research and found that there are 50 commands of Christ.  Each command contains Good News and a challenge.  Since there are 52 weeks in a year, I thought it would be a fun challenge to learn and intentionally live out one command of Jesus every week.  So every Tuesday I will lift up one command of Jesus for our Goodbook group with some reflections on it's meaning and ideas on how to live it out.  I will label all of these posts "50 COMMANDS" so you can easily reference them.  Feel free to comment with your reflections and application ideas.

I am really excited about these resolutions and what will happen through them in this New Year.  Have a safe holiday and a Happy New Year!
