ENDURES: Goodbook 06-10-16

"They just don't make 'em like they used to." Have you ever heard that phrase? It is usually spoken in reference to a product that broke down or wore out quickly. Whether or not it is true, there is a perception that companies in the past cared about making products that last and stand the test of time. Now it seems the push for profit has led to short cuts and cost cutting that result in products that do not hold up for very long.

In my morning time with God, I have been reading Psalms. I keep coming across the word "endures." The word in the original language is 'amad and it means "to stand, to remain, to endure." This word is used about God and the things of God. Our God is an enduring God. God's character and the things of God stand the test of time, remain, and endure.

Here are a few things that you can count on to endure from God:

• his love endures (Psalm 100:5; 136:1)
• his righteousness endures (Psalm 111:3)
• his commands endure (111:7,8)
• his praise endures (111:10)
• his truth endures (117:2)
• his mercy endures (118:1)
• the Word of God endures (Isaiah 40:18)
• whatever God does endures (Ecclesiastes 3:14)

In a world that "doesn't make 'em like they used to," we have a sure bet with God. We can trust that what God says, what God does, what God gives, who God is will endure! This is an offer too good to pass up.
