In my morning time with God, I have been reading Psalms. I keep coming across the word "endures." The word in the original language is 'amad and it means "to stand, to remain, to endure." This word is used about God and the things of God. Our God is an enduring God. God's character and the things of God stand the test of time, remain, and endure.
Here are a few things that you can count on to endure from God:
- his love endures (Psalm 100:5; 136:1)
- his righteousness endures (Psalm 111:3)
- his commands endure (111:7,8)
- his praise endures (111:10)
- his truth endures (117:2)
- his mercy endures (118:1)
- the Word of God endures (Isaiah 40:18)
- whatever God does endures (Ecclesiastes 3:14)
In a world that "doesn't make 'em like they used to," we have a sure bet with God. We can trust that what God says, what God does, what God gives, who God is will endure! This is an offer too good to pass up.
Truly an offer that is not too good to be true. I am so thankful to have a God who endures all.
