All of you in this group understand what a gift the Bible is. You know how God can speak through it straight to our hearts with words of comfort, challenge, strength, hope, guidance, and insight. You know how it can transform lives. Like me, you can probably resonate with what Peter said to Jesus in John 6:68, "Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life!"Can you imagine what life would be like if we did not have access to a Bible? I know it's hard to imagine in America. There are Bibles everywhere, and we can access the Bible for free online. But there are people in our world who do not have access to the Bible - at all.
In October, I will be going on a mission trip to Honduras where we will encounter people who do not have access to a Bible. For a mere $5 we can purchase a Bible for them. We have the opportunity to give the greatest gift a person can give, the gift of God's Word, which contains the Good News about God's love and salvation. How amazing and humbling is that?!?
Since you understand what a special gift this is, I wanted to invite you to join the effort. If all of our Goodbook members gave $5, we could give 220 people Bibles! If we all gave $10, we could give 540 people Bibles. That would be really incredible!!! Maybe you want to give more Bibles than that.
