The women in Growth Groups are studying Esther, so I thought I would read it too. One of the most powerful lines is spoken by Esther's uncle Mordecai. She was brought to the palace to be queen, and she finds out there is a plan to annihilate her people, the Jews. She is scared to approach the king. Mordecai says to her: "For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father's family will perish. And who knows, but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?" (Esther 4:14).Mordecai believe that God had placed her in the palace at that specific time for a specific purpose. Have you ever thought of yourself like that? That maybe God put you in your house, in your neighborhood, in your job, in your school, in the seat next to that person, for a specific purpose - a saving work of God. How might that change the way you approach your day and the people around you? How might that motivate you to speak up when you might want to stay silent.
