I have been reading through the book of Isaiah with my wife. The other day I read this verse:
"In that day he will be your sure foundation, providing a rich store of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge. The fear of the Lord will be your treasure," (Isaiah 33:6).
The image of a store popped into my mind. It was kind of fun to think about God's store. God's store has lots of wonderful treasures for us: salvation, wisdom, and knowledge to name a few. God's store also has love, forgiveness, peace, and power unlike anything the world can offer. The cool part of God's store is that it is always open and everything is always free. All we have to do is visit and ask.
I was struck that I don't visit this amazing store as often as I could. I've made a commitment to start my day with God, reading the Bible and praying. At the breakfast table I share neat nuggets from my reading with my kids, and we enter God's store together. I set an alarm to go off at noon so that I stop and visit God's store midday. At dinner, we share highs, lows, and God moments. I try to journal these every day. At night I read to my kids from the Bible and I strive with my wife before bed. Full disclosure, I don't always do all of these things perfectly. And I am realizing I have many more opportunities to visit God's store. I want to develop the habit of turning to God throughout the day as I experience joys and challenges.
God's store has lots of wonderful treasures for you. How often do you visit? What's one thing you could do to visit God's store today? Right now?
